INOP ELECTRONIC LEVEL CONTROL INSTALL HEIGHT SENSOR

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 DEVILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some early production 1985 Devilles and Fleetwoods may experience an inoperative Electronic Level Control (ELC) system. This condition may be the result of a blown ELC fuse. To correct this condition, the following procedure should be followed:

1. If the vehicle was built before Broadcast Number 215122, replace the height sensor with P/N 22048625. Follow installation and adjustment procedures in Section 3D of the 1985 FWD Deville and Fleetwood Service Manual.

2. Replace the fuse and perform the ELC system performance check (see Figure 1).

3. If the fuse blows a second time, replace the compressor (P/N 22020538).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
