LOOSE LACE AROUND DOOR FRAME MOLDINGS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 FWD DEVILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Trim lace which may become loose from exterior door frame moldings on some 1985 FWD Devilles and Fleetwoods (see Figure 1), may be reinstalled using the following procedure.

1. Loosen enough lace to make a repair to the affected area. DO NOT remove entire lace from molding.

2. Thoroughly clean chrome and lace in affected area with a clean cloth and small amount of lacquer thinner.

3. Apply a small bead of 3M #08061 plastic and emblem adhesive (or equivalent) to the lace surface as shown in Figure 1, Section A.

4. Install lace into cavity between door panel and molding.

5. Being careful not to damage painted surfaces, clean any excess adhesive with a clean cloth and smaller amount of lacquer thinner.

6. Allow to dry 15 minutes.

For warranty purposes, use labor Operation No. T6104 at .3 hour per door.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
