The front and/or rear door interior put handles could disconnect from the trim plate (refer to Figure 1) on some 1985 front-wheel-drive De Villes and Fleetwoods. A revised roll pin (P/N 11508684) has been released for production and is currently available through GMWDD to service vehicles experiencing this condition.
To install the new 1 /2" pin, follow the listed service procedure:
1. Remove pull handle assembly from door as described in Section 5 of the Body Service Manual, (Door Trim Panel and Applique Removal).
2. Remove spring (1) from the back of door handle assembly.
3. Remove 3/8 inch roll pins (2).
4. Insert 1/2 inch replacement roll pins (P/N 11508684).
5. Reinstall spring.
6. Reinstall pull handle assembly onto the door.
For warranty purposes use labor operation number T6130 at .6 hour per pull handle.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
