TEMP. DISPLAY NOT IN CELCIUS USE JUMPER WIRE TO CORRECT

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac "C" Styles Without Digital Instrumentation

Some vehicles may be received with the digital display for temperature indicating in Fahrenheit, not Celsius. All affected A/C control panels have the provision to display Celsius and do so when the proper wiring harness connections are made. Vehicles for sale in Canada should have specific harnesses to drive the display in Celsius. The following instructions will enable you to convert vehicles to Celsius if they are indicating in Fahrenheit.

Oldsmobile with C65

1. Remove the instrument panel trim cover plate (4 screws).

2. Remove the A/C control panel (4 screws) and remove panel from the I/P and disconnect the wiring harness.

3. Install the jumper between pins 'C' and 'H' of the 24 way connector. Make jumper with (2) of 12034053 terminals and 105 mm of 63147R wire (.80).

4. Reconnect harness and verify operation in Celsius.

5. Reinstall components.

Buick with C68

1. Lower hush panel to right of steering column.

2. Locate the bolt-together connector directly behind the A/C control panel.

3. Unbolt the connector and lower the harness which is still connected to the A/C panel.

4. Locate the solid black and the black/double orange stripe wires. Position these wires parallel to each other and install clip no. 3927320.

Note: This connects pin 11 of the A/C control to ground.

5. Reinstall parts and verify readout in Celcius.

Cadillac

1. Remove hush panel to right of steering column.

2. Locate the single blue and single black wires, both with grey connectors taped to main harness.

3. Connect the blue and black wires together.

4. Reinstall hush panel.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
