Whenever it becomes necessary to disassemble the cluster in a 1985 Ninety-Eight for repairs, the following procedures and Fig. -- should be added to the cluster removal procedures on Page 8C4-8 of the 1985 Firenza, Calais, Cutlass Ciera and Ninety-Eight Chassis Service Manual, Volume II.
1. Remove cluster lens and retainer.
2. Remove speedometer attaching screws.
3. Carefully lift speedometer and disconnect odometer connectors.
The speedometer head and circuit board can now be sent to the speedometer repair centre, if required.
4. Remove gauges attaching screws.
5. Lift gauges out.
6. Remove trip odometer attaching screws.
7. Remove stepper motor from odometer assembly.
