COMPRESSOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REFRIGERANT LEAK - REPLACE HOSE AND REPOSITION HOSE RETAINING BRACKET
Some 1988 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may experience a service A/C light due to a refrigerant leak from the compressor hose assembly. BCM diagnostic codes F46, F47, and F48 may also accompany the refrigerant leak. This condition may be caused by a mispositioned or bent center compressor suction hose bracket restricting the movement of the hose.
To repair this condition after replacing the compressor hose assembly, if necessary loosen the center retaining bracket nut and reposition the bracket, then bend the bracket outward to the shape shown in Figure 1 maintaining constant clearance to valve cover.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
