The power steering return line assembly information in the 1989-1990 Service Information Manuals and Labor Time Guides is incorrect. The proper Labor Operation and time to use when replacing a power steering return hose under warranty is E8904 at 1.7 hours. For proper replacement use the following procedure:
1. Remove retainer on radiator shroud and bracket on A/C accumulator.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from accumulator and reposition A/C accumulator and lines.
3. Remove serpentine belt.
4. Remove upper idler pulley.
5. Remove lower idler pulley.
6. Remove AIR retention clip at back of engine block and reposition hoses.
7. Remove power steering pulley.
8. Remove return line from pump.
9. Raise vehicle.
10. Remove pipe assembly from retention nut on engine block.
11. Remove pipe from plastic retainer on left-hand side of body.
12. Remove retention bolt from AIR pipe.
13. Remove return line from gear.
14. Remove two retainers (one at bottom of radiator shroud and one behind bumper).
15. Remove one bolt from air dam and one Christmas tree retainer for access.
16. Remove return line from car.
Reverse procedure to reinstall
17. Bleed power steering system.
