SERVICE BRAKE LINING FOR PRIOR MODEL C-H CARS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1989 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

This bulletin supersedes bulletin T-89-115 which should be discarded.

Some 1985-1989 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may experience a brake noise condition from the front brakes. Front disc pads with a new lining material are available from GMSPO to repair the noise condition. The new service pad kit part numbers are listed below by brake system option code:

Option Code J41, J42 (non-ABS): P/N 12510004, lining edge code 117FE. Refer to Figure 1 for lining edge code location.

Option Code JM4 (ABS): P/N 12321453, lining edge code DM342EE. Refer to Figure 1 for lining edge code location.

IMPORTANT: All 1989 DeVilles and Fleetwoods equipped with option code JM4 (ABS) built after breakpoint 332788 have the new lining material on the front disc pads.

CAUTION:

The service pad kit, P/N 12321453, should not be used to service 1985-1989 DeVilles and Fleetwoods with hon-ABS. Use of this pad on non-ABS equipped vehicles may result in decreased braking capability.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation H0042 at .7 hour.
