LABOR TIME GUIDE REVISION

The August revision to the 1989 Labor Time Guide microfiche has been published. All time changes, text changes, and new operations are "flagged" with change indicators as described in the Labor Time Guide foreword (A-3). Dealers should receive this revision by August 7.

The following are some of the major changes in this revision:

Elimination of tighten bolts, fasteners, fittings operations for all model years*.

Add times for high mileage.

Zone paint operations for Allante pearl paint deleted.

New labor code for finesse (AO110).

Labor Operations for GM Vehicle Security Systems were added.

Claims for repairs, which in the past were covered by using the tighten bolt, fasteners, fittings Labor Operation should now be submitted using a regular Labor Operation for .2 hour. Example: If the oil pan was leaking and the correction was to tighten the oil pan bolts, a claim should be submitted using Labor Operation J1000 at .2 hour.

They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely.
