Some 1989-1990 Fleetwoods may experience a condition where the door trim panel may warp away from the chrome moulding at the belt line. This condition may be caused by too much foam at the top edge of the door trim pad or improper installation. To repair this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove the upper section of the door trim panel.
2. Measure down from top of door trim panel at least 1-1/2 inches, or on severely bowed door trim panels mark hole position just above crease line on the backside of the panel. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Choose a plastic fastener similar to one shown in Figure 2. At approximately the centre of the trim panel, drill two holes side by side to accept the fastener. Work the drill between the two holes to make an elongated hole. Refer to Figure 3.
4. Install new plastic fastener in the elongated hole. Once the fastener is in position on the trim panel, apply a small amount of grease on the end of the fastener then push the trim panel up against the door inner panel to mark the exact spot to drill the hole in the door inner panel to accept the fastener. Drill the hole in that spot.
5. Reinstall door trim panel.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
