Some 1989 and 1990 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may have body side mouldings which are loose on the doors, wheel skirts, or quarters or are gapped to the fenders. Refer to Figure 1.
To repair loose mouldings remove the moulding and replace the upper clips with new clips, P/N #25556119. Refer to Figure 2. Reinstall the moulding.
To repair a moulding which is gapped to a fender remove the moulding retaining nut on the inside of the fender, install a backing plate, P/N #25557480, over the stud, and reinstall the nut. General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
