Some 1989-1991 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may exhibit a gap between the front bumper fascia and the chrome bumper beam at the lower wrap-around area. The gap is evident from the front of the vehicle. Refer to Figure 1.
To repair this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove the front screw securing the fascia to the underside of the chrome beam. Refer to Figure 2.
2. Pull back fascia and remove clip from reinforcement.
3. Elongate hole in reinforcement toward centerline of car using a round file. Refer to Figure 2, View A.
4. Reattach clip to reinforcement, pushing clip toward inboard side of elongated hole.
5. Re-secure fascia with screw while holding fascia tight against reinforcement and beam.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
