SUN VISORS POP OUT OF MAP LIGHT (REPLACE TIP PIN)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1990 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1990 DeVilles and Fleetwoods before VIN 264635 may experience a condition where the sun visor ends pop out of the map light housing, especially when cycling. This condition may be caused by the tip pin cap becoming too soft when warm to maintain retention in the map light. To repair this condition use the following procedure:

1. Grasp the sun visor firmly.

2. With a pair of pliers, firmly grasp the tip pin. Pull out the tip pin in a straight line and discard.

3. Replace with new tip pin using P/N 12504625. Push in with pliers.

4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on other visor.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6424 at .2 hour for both visors.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
