1995 OLDSMOBILE AURORA WITH 4.0L ENGINE (VIN C - RPO L47)
SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT NOISE. THIS NOISE CONDITION IS MOST NOTICEABLE AT IDLE.
ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT NOISE MAY BE CAUSED BY "PILLING" OF THE SERPENTINE BELT.
SERPENTINE BELT PILLING MAY RESULT FROM DEPOSITS ADHERING TO THE BELT AND/OR ACCESSORY DRIVE PULLEYS. THESE DEPOSITS DISTORT THE "V" SHAPED GEOMETRY OF THE BELT, CAUSING A CHIRP SOUND AS THE BELT SEATS INTO THE PULLEY GROOVES.
A NEW SERPENTINE BELT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO ADDRESS THIS CONDITION. INSPECT THE PART NUMBER ON THE BELT; IF IT READS 3542324, REMOVE THE BELT AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 6B2 OF THE SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL. BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW SERPENTINE BELT, CLEAN THE GROOVES OF THE PULLEYS WITH A NYLON BRISTLE BRUSH TO REMOVE ANY SERPENTINE BELT DEPOSITS.
USE THE FOLLOWING PART NUMBERS WHEN ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY.
