WATERLEAK FROM REAR DOOR SIDE GLASS AREA

SUBJECT: WATERLEAK FROM REAR DOOR SIDE GLASS AREA (REPLACE SCREW AND GLASS RUN CHANNEL)

MODELS: 1992-96 CADILLAC SEVILLE/STS - BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT 806000

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON WATERLEAKS FROM THE REAR DOOR SIDE GLASS AREA.

CAUSE:

THE GLASS RUN CHANNEL HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FILL UP WITH WATER AND OVER FLOW, RESULTING IN WATER INTRUSION AT THE FRONT OR REAR OF GLASS AT THE UPPER CORNER OF THE STATIONARY CHANNEL.

CORRECTION:

1. REMOVE GLASS RUN CHANNEL AND CHECK FOR LOOSE OR STRIPPED RETAINER SCREWS.

- LOWER DOOR GLASS TO FULL DOWN POSITION. - REMOVE GLASS RUN.

2. FOR STRIPPED SCREWS, REMOVE SCREW AND FILL HOLE WITH 3M(R) STRIP- CAULK SEALER, P/N 08578, OR EQUIVALENT.

3. WITH CENTER PUNCH, LOCATE NEW SCREW LOCATION FOR NEW SCREW NEAR STRIPPED HOLE.

4. REPLACE STRIPPED SCREW WITH SELF-TAPPING SCREW, P/N 11509153.

5. INSPECT UPPER REAR CORNER OF GLASS RUN (SEE FIGURE 1).

6. REPLACE THE GLASS RUN CHANNEL WITH P/N 25650731 (RH) OR 25650732 (LH). (USE CARE TO FULLY SEAT CHANNEL.)

7. LUBRICANT MAY BE NEEDED TO EASE INSTALLATION OF GLASS RUN CHANNEL INTO LOWER RUN CHANNEL ALONG DOOR GLASS.

PARTS INFORMATION:

PARTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE ON JANUARY 8, 1996.

C0341 CHANNEL, REAR DOOR WINDOW USE PUBLISHED RUN - REPLACE (LEFT) LABOR TIME.

ADD: TO REPLACE STRIPPED RUN 0.2 HR CHANNEL RETAINER SCREWS (RIGHT OR LEFT)
