The spark plug wiring connects the ICM to the spark plugs. It incorporates several plastic clips and conduits to keep it properly positioned and to protect it. The spark plug wiring is 7 mm in diameter and the outer jacket is made of silicone to withstand high temperatures. The silicone jacket is also an excellent insulator for the high voltages used in the ignition system. The silicone spark plug boots provide a tight seal on the spark plug. Do not force anything between the boot and wiring or through the silicone jacket. Connections should be made using an appropriate adapter.
The spark plug wire boots contain FHC grease as a lubricant, which will last the entire life of the spark plug wires. Future FHC grease application is unnecessary. This coating is clear with a slightly waxy feel. The coating helps prevent the silicone spark plug boot from sticking to the spark plug ceramic. This greatly reduces the effort required to remove and install the spark plug boot and spark plug wires. If silicone type lubricants are added to FHC coated spark plug boots, carbon tracking of the spark plugs may occur.
