Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the upper front bolt.
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  5. Remove the front engine splash shield.
  6. Remove the radiator support access panel.

  8. Loosen the rear generator bracket from the engine.
  9. Remove the top bolt.
  10. Remove the front lower mounting bolt.
  11. Remove the lower rear mounting bolt.
  12. Remove the upper rear mounting bolt.
  13. Remove the duct from the back of the generator.
  14. Disconnect the following electrical connections:
  15. • Regulator
    • Battery output
    • Heated windshield (if equipped).
  16. Remove the front generator/ A/C bracket.
  17. Rotate the generator and remove.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 48455  Size: SH
  1. Install the generator.
  2. Install the front generator/ A/C bracket.
  3. Connect the following electrical connections:
  4. • Regulator
    • Battery output

    Tighten
    Tighten the battery output cable to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    • Heated windshield (if equipped).
  5. Install the duct to the back of the generator. Align the duct to the generator black duct.
  6. Install the upper rear mounting bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the upper rear mounting bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  8. Install the lower rear mounting bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the lower rear mounting bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  10. Install the front mounting bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the front mounting bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  12. Install the rear generator bracket bolt to the engine.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket mounting bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  14. Install the upper front bolt.
  15. Install the radiator support access panel.
  16. Install the front engine splash shield.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Tighten the upper front bolt.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the upper front bolt to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

  20. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
