Typical Scan Data Values

Use the Typical Scan Data Values table only after the following is determined:

    •  On-Board Diagnostic System Check is Completed.
    •  No Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    •  On-board diagnostics are functioning properly.

Scan tool values from a properly running engine may be used for comparison with the engine you are diagnosing. The Typical Scan Tool Data Values represent values that would be seen on a normally running engine.

Only the parameters listed below are referenced in this service manual for use in diagnosis. For further information on using the scan tool to diagnose the PCM and related sensors, refer to the applicable reference section listed below. If all values are within the typical range described below, refer to Symptoms section for diagnosis.

The column labeled Data List indicates where a parameter can be located on the Scan Tool. The following is a description of each term listed:

    •  Eng 1 = Engine 1 Data List
    •  Eng 2 = Engine 2 Data List
    •  Eng 3 = Engine 3 Data List
    •  FT 1 = Fuel Trim 1 Data List
    •  FT 2 = Fuel Trim 2 Data List
    •  Misfire = Misfire Data List

The values specified for Cold Idle and Hot Idle are based on approximate outside temperatures of 16°C (60°F) at 900 feet above sea level. The values specified for Cold Key On and 55 Cruise are based on approximate outside temperatures of 27°C (81°F) at 900 feet above sea level. Due to the wide range of readings possible for some parameters the values can range outside the values specified under certain conditions.
