NO CRANK CONDITION AFTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REPLACEMENT

SUBJECT: NO CRANK CONDITION AFTER INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT (PERFORM THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN PROCEDURE)

MODELS: 1996 CADILLAC CONCOURS, DEVILLE, ELDORADO, SEVILLE

CONDITION:

SOME OF THE ABOVE LISTED MODELS MAY EXHIBIT A NO CRANK CONDITION WITH "THEFT SYSTEM" AND DTC "IP2750" DISPLAYED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AFTER INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT.

CAUSE:

THIS CONDITION MAY BE CAUSED BY A PASSWORD MISMATCH BETWEEN THE IPC AND THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM).

CORRECTION:

PERFORM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN PROCEDURES:

THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN PROCEDURE WITH A T50 OR T60 - =================================================

1. USING A T50 OR T60, ENTER SERVICE PROGRAMMING SYSTEM (SPS).

2. SELECT THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN.

3. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS DISPLAYED ON THE T50 OR T60.

4. VERIFY THE REPAIR.

THEFT MODULE RE-LEARN PROCEDURE WITHOUT A T50 OR T60 - ====================================================

DURING THIS PROCEDURE, THE VEHICLE BATTERY MUST MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 10.5 VOLTS. IF THE BATTERY IS NOT FULLY CHARGED OR IS WEAK, A BATTERY CHARGER MAY BE CONNECTED. NOTE THE BATTERY CHARGER MUST NOT BE SET IN 12 VOLT BOOST. THIS WILL PREVENT THIS PROCEDURE FROM WORKING.

1. CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "RUN" POSITION.

2. WAIT A MINIMUM OF 10 MINUTES, CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "OFF" POSITION.

3. CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "RUN" POSITION.

4. WAIT A MINIMUM OF 10 MINUTES, CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "OFF" POSITION.

5. CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "RUN" POSITION.

6. WAIT A MINIMUM OF 10 MINUTES, CYCLE THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "OFF" POSITION.

7. VERIFY THE REPAIR.
