Removal Procedure
Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the
SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment,
personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Remove
the instrument panel (IP). Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Remove the left and right carpet retainers. Refer to
Front Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Remove the front carpeting in order to access the rear ducts.
Refer to
Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the ducts from the rear blower/IP center support assembly (1,
2).
- Remove the fasteners (3)
retaining the rear blower/IP center support assembly (1, 2) to the
floor.
- Remove the rear blower/IP
center support assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove the rear blower motor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear blower motor to the IP center support assembly.
- Install the rear blower/IP
center support.
- Install the fasteners (3)
that retain the rear blower/IP center support assembly (1, 2) to
the vehicle floor
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Torque the fasteners (3) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the ducts to the rear blower/IP center support assembly.
- Install the front carpeting. Refer to
Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the left and right carpet retainers. Refer to
Front Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Install the instrument panel (IP). Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
