Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Remove the left side sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the driver air mix actuator retaining fasteners (1).
  3. Remove the electrical connector from the driver air mix actuator.

  5. Remove the driver air mix actuator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the driver air mix actuator.

  2. Object Number: 292138  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the driver air mix retaining fasteners (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  5. Install the electrical connector to the driver air mix actuator.
  6. Install the left side sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Recalibrate the actuators. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
