Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2001 🢒 DeVille 🢒 Body and Accessories 🢒 Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console 🢒 Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  3. Remove the IP center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement or Front Floor Console Replacement .
  4. Remove the left IP outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left Side .
  5. Remove the right IP outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right Side .
  6. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .
  7. Remove the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  8. Remove the radio or the navigation display module. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment, or Navigation Display Module Replacement in Navigation.
  9. Remove the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement .
  10. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  11. Remove the IP storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  12. Remove the right IP accessory trim plate. Refer Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Right Side .

    13. Object Number: 751046 Size: SH
  13. Remove the IP fasteners (1) from each end of the IP retainer.

    14. Object Number: 748491 Size: SH
  14. Remove the remaining fasteners from the IP retainer (1).
  15. Partially remove the IP retainer (1) from the IP carrier (2).

    16. Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.

  16. Guide the wiring through the IP retainer openings as necessary.
  17. Remove the IP retainer from the vehicle.
  18. Remove the Inside air temperature sensor from the IP retainer. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 748491 Size: SH
  1. Install the Inside air temperature sensor to the IP retainer. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.
  2. Partially install the IP retainer and guide the wiring through the IP retainer openings as necessary.
  3. Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
  4. Install the IP retainer fasteners.

  5. Install the fasteners (1) to each end of the IP retainer.
  6. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  7. Install the drivers knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement .
  8. Install the radio or the navigation display module. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment, or Navigation Display Module Replacement in Navigation.
  9. Install the HVAC control module. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC-Automatic.
  10. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  11. Install the IP storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  12. Install the right IP accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Right Side .
  13. Install the left IP outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left Side .
  14. Install the right IP outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right Side .
  15. Install the IP center storage compartment or the floor console. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement or Front Floor Console Replacement .
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  17. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
