Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to
Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear
in Exterior Trim.
- Remove the push in retainer
(7) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear bumper impact bar (8).
- Remove the fasteners (5) retaining the rear bumper fascia (6)
to the body (3).
- Disconnect the ultrasonic rear park assist harness connector (4)
from the vehicle main body harness.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to
Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Remove the rear compartment side trim panels. Refer to
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side
and
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side
in
Body Rear End.
- Remove the fasteners (2) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to
the rear quarter panels (3).
- Remove the fasteners (1) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to
the vehicle.
- Remove the rear bumper fascia (6) from the body.
Important: It is only necessary to perform steps 13 and 14 if the rear bumper fascia
is being replaced.
- Remove the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to
Rear Energy Absorber Replacement
.
- Remove the rear object sensors from the rear bumper fascia. Refer
to
Rear Object Sensor Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear object sensors into the rear bumper fascia. Refer
to
Rear Object Sensor Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Install the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to
Rear Energy Absorber Replacement
.
- Install the rear bumper
fascia (6) to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fasteners (5)
in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the vehicle (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the fasteners (1) in order to secure the rear bumper
fascia (6) to the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the fasteners (2) in order to secure the rear bumper
fascia (6) to the rear quarter panels (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the rear compartment side trim panels. Refer to
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side
and
Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side
in
Body Rear End.
- Install the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to
Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Close the rear compartment lid.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Connect the ultrasonic rear park assist harness to the body main
harness (4).
- Install the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to
Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear
in Exterior Trim.
- Install the push in retainer
(7) in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear bumper impact
bar (8).
- Lower the vehicle.
