Front Floor Console Replacement DTS, w/o UV8

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Set the parking brake.
  3. Remove the left console trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the right console trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Remove the console center trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the IP center compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  7. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  8. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .

  10. Disconnect the transaxle range selector cable terminal from the shift lever pin.
  11. Pull the lock release and remove the transaxle shift cable from the console.

  12. Object Number: 474659  Size: SH
  13. Remove the 4 console fasteners (1, 2) to the IP.
  14. Adjust the front seats rearward.
  15. Remove the 2 front console to floor fasteners (3).
  16. Adjust the front seats forward.
  17. Remove the 2 rear console to floor fasteners (4).
  18. Move the console rearward, in order to access the electrical connectors.
  19. Disconnect the center console electrical connectors.
  20. Remove the center console.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 474659  Size: SH
  1. Install the center console to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the center console electrical connectors.
  3. Align the locating pins on the center console to the IP.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the 2 upper console to IP fasteners (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (1) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Install the 2 lower console to IP fasteners (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Adjust the front seats to the forward position.
  10. Install the 2 rear console to floor fasteners (4).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (4) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  12. Adjust the front seats to the rear position.
  13. Install the 2 front console to floor fasteners (3).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (3) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  15. Install the IP center compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement

  17. Slide the transaxle range selector cable fully into the console until it snaps into place.
  18. Connect the transaxle range selector cable terminal to the shift lever pin.
  19. Install the console center trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  20. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  21. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  22. Install both the left and the right console trim panels. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  23. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

Front Floor Console Replacement DTS with UV8

Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the air bag system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Set the park brake.
  3. Remove the left console trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the right console trim panel. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Remove the console center trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the IP center compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  7. Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  8. Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  9. Disconnect the transaxle range selector cable from the shift lever pin.
  10. Remove the transaxle range selector cable from the shift bracket.

  12. Remove the console bolts (1,  2) to the IP.
  13. Adjust the front seats rearward.
  14. Remove the front console to floor bolts (3).
  15. Adjust the front seats forward.
  16. Remove the rear console to floor bolts (4).
  17. Move the console rearward, in order to access the center console electrical connectors.
  18. Disconnect the center console electrical connectors.

  20. Lift the center console to access the Cellular phone electrical connections.
  21. Disconnect the cellular phone electrical connector (1).
  22. Disconnect the cellular phone coaxial cable (2).
  23. Remove the center console.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 820710  Size: SH
  1. Partially install the center console.
  2. Connect the cellular phone electrical connector (1).
  3. Connect the cellular phone coaxial cable (2).
  4. Connect the center console electrical connectors.

  5. Object Number: 474659  Size: SH
  6. Align the locating pins on the floor console to the IP.
  7. Install the upper console to IP bolts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (1) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the lower console to IP bolts (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  11. Adjust the front seats to the forward position.
  12. Install the rear console to floor bolts (4).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (4) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  14. Adjust the front seats to the rear position.
  15. Install the front console to floor bolts (3).
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (3) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  17. Slide the transaxle range selector cable fully into the console until it snaps into place.
  18. Connect the transaxle range selector cable to the shift lever pin.
  19. Install the IP center storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  20. Install the console center trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  21. Install the right knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  22. Install the left knee bolster. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Replacement .
  23. Install both the left and the right console trim plates. Refer to Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side and Front Floor Console Side Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  24. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
