- Install the automatic
transmission shift lock control.
Put the column in the neutral
position.
- Adjust the automatic transmission
shift lock control.
2.1. | Pull the tab (1) out on the block side of the automatic
transmission shift lock control. |
2.2. | Shift the column into the neutral position. |
2.3. | Press on the adjuster block (2) to compress the internal
adjuster spring to disengage the adjuster teeth. Slide the adjuster block (2)
as far away from the solenoid as possible. |
2.4. | Shift the column into the park position. |
2.5. | Lock in place by pushing the tab (1) back in. |
- Inspect the automatic transmission shift lock control.
3.1. | The automatic transmission shift lock control must lock the gear
shift lever when it is put into the park position. |
3.2. | When the column is installed in the vehicle you will not be able
to shift the gear shift lever out of the park position without pressing on
the brake pedal. The solenoid will be energized. |

- Connect the automatic transmission shift lock control
connector.
- If necessary, install the upper and lower trim cover. Refer to
Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle
.
- Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to
Steering Column Replacement
.
- Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to
Steering Wheel Replacement
.
- Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to
Enabling the SIR System
in SIR.
