Support Replacement FE1, FE3

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 293367  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and the wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  3. in Tires and Wheels.

  4. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Remove the coil springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  6. Remove the brake calipers and support. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  7. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from each wheel.

  9. Disconnect the ABS electrical connectors from the support assembly.
  10. Disconnect the electronic level control link (FE1) or links (FE3).
  11. Support the rear suspension support assembly with a transmission jack and securely support.

  13. Remove the 3 bolts per side, securing the support brackets to the body of the vehicle.

  14. Object Number: 105035  Size: SH
  15. Remove the front two and the rear two bolts securing the support assembly to the body.
  16. Lower the transmission jack and remove the support assembly.
  17. Transfer all necessary parts from the old support to the new.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105035  Size: SH
  1. Raise the support assembly with the transmission jack in position.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 2 rear and the 2 front bolts at the mounts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the front support assembly bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear support assembly bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).

    Important: Loosen the assemble brackets to prevent spinning when securing the front support assembly bolts.

  5. Install the brackets at the forward support assembly mounts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 86 N·m (63 lb ft).

  7. Connect the electronic level control air tube to the electronic level control compressor.
  8. Connect the electronic level control electrical connector and vent tube.
  9. Connect the electrical connectors to the support assembly (FE3).
  10. Connect the electronic level control link (FE1) or links (FE3) to the control arms.
  11. Install the brake calipers. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  12. Install the springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  13. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  14. Install the tires and the wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation . in Tires and Wheels.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 125 N·m (80 lb ft).

  16. Adjust the rear toe. Refer to Rear Toe Adjustment .

Support Replacement FE7

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tires and the wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Lower the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Remove the coil springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  5. Remove the brake calipers and support. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  7. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from each wheel.

  8. Object Number: 106206  Size: SH
  9. Release the park brake cable from the brake calipers.
  10. Loosen the park brake cable (1) and then disconnect the cable at the rear suspension support assembly.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the support assembly.
  12. Remove the electronic level control electrical connector and the vent hose.
  13. Disconnect the electronic level control link from the left and the right control arm, if equipped.
  14. Remove the electronic level control vent tube from the electronic level control compressor.
  15. Support the rear suspension support assembly with a transmission jack and securely support.

  17. Remove the center support brackets (1).

  18. Object Number: 105036  Size: SH
  19. Remove 3 bolts per side, securing the support brackets to the body of the vehicle.

  20. Object Number: 105035  Size: SH
  21. Remove the front 2 and the rear 2 bolts securing the support assembly to the body.
  22. Lower the transmission jack and remove the support assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Raise the support assembly with the transmission jack in position.

        • Tighten the front support assembly bolts to 187 N·m (138 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear support assembly bolts to 207 N·m (153 lb ft).

  5. Install the brackets at the forward support assembly mounts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 86 N·m (63 lb ft).

  7. Install the center support bracket bolts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the center support bracket bolts to 128 N·m (94 lb ft).

  9. Connect the electronic level control air tube to the electronic level control compressor.
  10. Connect the electronic level control electrical connector and the vent tube.
  11. Connect the electrical connectors to the support assembly.
  12. Connect the electronic level control links to both the control arms.
  13. Connect the electronic level control air tube to the electronic level control compressor.
  14. Connect the electronic level control electrical connector and the vent tube.
  15. Connect the electrical connectors to the support assembly.
  16. Connect the electronic level control links to both the control arms.

  18. Attach the park brake cable at the support assembly.
  19. Install the park brake cable (1) to the brake calipers.
  20. Install the brake calipers. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  21. Install the coil springs. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  22. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  23. Install the tires and the wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 125 N·m (80 lb ft).

  25. Adjust the rear toe. Refer to Rear Toe Adjustment .
