Cleaning Procedure
- Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent that is compatible with the rubber.
- Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.
Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.
Inspection Procedure
- Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following:
- Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer as necessary.
| • | Worn or damaged hub-to-crankshaft surface (1) |
| • | Worn, grooved, or damaged hub seal surface (2). A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust, or other damage must be replaced. |
| • | Bent, damaged or missing crankshaft front oil seal shield (3) |
| • | Worn, chunking, or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (4) |
| • | Damaged drive belt ribs (5) |
