A/C Shuts Off for 3-5 Minutes in Hot Weather with Vehicle Speed At/Above 113 km/h (70 mph) (Reprogram Dash Integration Module (DIM))

Subject:A/C Shuts Off for 3-5 Minutes in Hot Weather with Vehicle Speed At/Above 113 km/h (70 mph) (Reprogram Dash Integration Module (DIM))

Models:2000-2002 Cadillac DeVille Built Prior To VIN Breakpoint 2U270615

Condition

Some customers may comment that while driving at speeds of 113 km/h (70 mph) or greater in outside ambient temperatures of 35°C (95°F) or greater, the air conditioning (A/C) system shuts off for 3-5 minutes. The HVAC control is set at full cold (16°C (60°F)) and the blower speed is set at medium (3 bars).

Cause

This condition may be due to the refrigerant gas temperatures being so high it causes the thermal limit switch to shut off the a/c compressor.

Correction

The a/c compressor is controlled by the Dash Integration Module (DIM). A DIM calibration is now available that will reduce a/c compressor cycle time. Reprogram the DIM.
