Subject: | A/C Shuts Off for 3-5 Minutes in Hot Weather with Vehicle Speed At/Above 113 km/h (70 mph) (Reprogram Dash Integration Module (DIM)) |
Models: | 2000-2002 Cadillac DeVille Built Prior To VIN Breakpoint 2U270615 |
Some customers may comment that while driving at speeds of 113 km/h (70 mph) or greater in outside ambient temperatures of 35°C (95°F) or greater, the air conditioning (A/C) system shuts off for 3-5 minutes. The HVAC control is set at full cold (16°C (60°F)) and the blower speed is set at medium (3 bars).
This condition may be due to the refrigerant gas temperatures being so high it causes the thermal limit switch to shut off the a/c compressor.
The a/c compressor is controlled by the Dash Integration Module (DIM). A DIM calibration is now available that will reduce a/c compressor cycle time. Reprogram the DIM.
Important: Prior to performing the reprogramming procedure, review the following:
• Service Bulletin 01-01-38-013, SI #837361. • Service Programming System (SPS) Notice, SI Document ID #823104. • Service Programming System (SPS) Description, SI Document ID #639934.
Important: Ensure the Tech 2® and terminal have been updated with software version 22.004 (released May 6, 2002) or greater before attempting this procedure.
The calibrations are electronic calibrations and are NOT available from GMSPO. Calibrations are available from Techline beginning with the TIS 2000 data release of version 5.0 or later.
