Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Loosen the discharge hose to evaporator inlet fitting using the J 38042 .

  3. Object Number: 592429  Size: SH
  4. Separate the fitting.

  5. Object Number: 592428  Size: SH
  6. Remove the expansion tube (1) from the evaporator hose assembly (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the O-ring with refrigerant oil.
  2. Install the expansion tube (1) into the evaporator hose assembly (2).

  3. Object Number: 592429  Size: SH
  4. Connect the discharge hose to evaporator inlet line fitting.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Tighten the discharge hose to evaporator inlet line fitting.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Reposition the line into the original position in the plastic hold-down clamp.
  9. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400 .
