Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the suction hose retaining nut from the accumulator.
- Remove the suction hose from the accumulator.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the suction hose nut (2).
- Remove the suction hose (1).
Installation Procedure
Important: Inspect the sealing washers for damage.
Replace the sealing washers that show any signs of damage.
Sealing washers do not require lubrication.
- Install the suction hose (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the suction hose (1) to the compressor.
- Install the suction hose nut (2) to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the suction hose to the accumulator.
- Install the suction hose nut.
- Install the suction hose nut to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using
J 39400
.
- Install the front air deflector. Refer to
Front Air Deflector Replacement
in Body Front End.
