Did you perform Diagnostic System Check - Cellular Communication ?

  1. Dock the cellular telephone handset.
  2. Turn ON the ignition.
  3. Turn on the radio and set the radio volume.
  4. Attempt to place a call in hands-free mode.
  5. Attempt to place a call using the docked handset.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Connect the handset to the cellular telephone interface board.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine off.
  3. Press and hold the PWR key on the telephone handset.

Does the telephone display illuminate?

Go to Step 20

  1. Press the driver information center (DIC) INFORMATION button.
  2. Select PHONE INFO.

Does the PHN NO HANDSET message appear on the DIC?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the cellular telephone module connector.
  3. Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the cellular telephone module for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the cellular telephone module for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect the cellular telephone module connector.
  3. Disconnect the cellular telephone handset connector.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with engine off.
  5. Test the controlled power circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
