Did you perform Diagnostic System Check - Cellular Communication ?

  1. Dock the cellular telephone handset.
  2. Turn ON the ignition.
  3. Turn on the radio and set the radio volume.
  4. Attempt to place a call in hands-free mode.
  5. Attempt to place a call using the docked handset.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Make sure the telephone is on and that the handset is docked.
  2. Press the PHONE button on the LH side steering wheel controls. The voice prompt should say READY through the audio system speakers.

Did the voice prompt say READY?

Go to Step 6

Check the telephone volume display on the driver information center (DIC).

Is the phone volume adjusted to more than 5 bars on the display?

Go to Step 6

Increase the phone volume, as indicated on the DIC.

Did you complete the adjustment?

Test the audio handset mouthpiece signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
