Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement FE1, FE3
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
- Disconnect the ABS sensor wire connector.
- Remove the wheel bearing and hub retainer
bolts.
- Remove the wheel bearing and hub and brake shield.
Installation Procedure
- Clean the lower control arm face and
bore before installing the wheel bearing and hub.
- Install the wheel bearing and hub and brake shield to the lower
control arm.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the wheel bearing and
hub retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts to 68 N·m
(50 lb ft).
- Install the brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
- Install the ABS sensor wire connector.
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Lower the vehicle.
Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement FE7
Removal Procedure
Important: It is necessary to replace the ABS sensor and reluctor when servicing
the hub or wheel bearing.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
- Disconnect the ABS sensor wire connector.
- Disconnect the parking brake cable from the lower control arm.
- Remove the ABS sensor. Refer to
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
- Remove the wheel bearing and hub retaining
bolts (1).
- Remove the wheel speed sensor reluctor ring. Refer to
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Ring Replacement
- Remove the wheel bearing and hub if replacing the wheel bearing
and procedure to next step.
- Remove the wheel bearing nut and washer from the hub.
- Remove the brake shield from the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel bearing from the hub.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel bearing to the hub.
- Install the brake shield.

- Install the washer and wheel
bearing nut.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel bearing nut to 200 N·m (147 lb ft).
- Clean the lower control arm face and
bore before installing the wheel bearing and hub.
- Install the wheel bearing and hub to the lower control arm with
the retaining bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the wheel bearing and hub retaining bolts to 118 N·m
(87 lb ft).
- Install a new ABS wheel speed sensor reluctor ring. Refer to
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Ring Replacement
- Install a new ABS sensor. Refer to
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
- Install the brake rotor. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
- Install the ABS sensor wire connector.
- Install the wheel and tire. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Lower the vehicle.
