Subject: | Service VME -- Seat Memory Setting |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
In an effort to reduce the amount of customers who complain that their driver memory seat feature does not maintain settings or is operating improperly, a delay feature has been added to the memory setting procedure. It was felt that many customers experienced an inadvertent reset of their seat settings. While pushing the drivers door open customers could accidentally contact the seat ‘SET’ button. In many instances customers reset their seat settings and were not aware they had done so. Because of inadvertent seat setting changes these customers frequently felt that their seat memory function was not operating correctly. The 2003 Cadillac DeVille now requires that customers press and hold their ‘SET’ button for approximately one second to change their seating and exit positions. This was not a feature on the 2000 through 2002 model DeVilles. It is felt that this change will help to minimize customer complaints about memory seat settings. This change is discussed in the 2003 Owners Manual. This is Maurice Williams Brand Quality Manager, Cadillac Deville.
