Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer
to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in
General Information.
- Remove the retaining screws from the front portion of the left
front wheel well/splash shield.
- Lower the splash shield far enough to gain access to the secondary
air injection (AIR) pump (2) assembly.
- Loosen and lower the AIR outlet hose pinch clamp.
- Remove the AIR inlet hose from the AIR pump (2).
- Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector.
- Remove the upper AIR pump to cradle bolt.
- Lift up and pull out to remove the AIR pump (2) from the cradle
bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lower AIR
pump bolts/nuts into the cradle bracket and push down.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the upper
AIR pump to cradle bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the upper and lower AIR pump to cradle bolts to 9 N·m
(80 lb in).
- Reconnect the AIR pump electrical connector.
- Install the AIR outlet hose and pinch clamp to the AIR pump (2).
- Install the AIR inlet hose to the AIR pump (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
