Schematic Reference: Door Lock/Indicator Schematics

DEFINITION: Door locks do not operate from the door lock cylinder switch, which is mounted to the inside of the door key lock cylinder. This test assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the Power Door Locks Inoperative - Key Cylinder Switches complaint is present.

Does the Central Door Unlock system operate as described in the Description and Operation?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. With the scan tool, observe the Key Cylinder Unlock parameter in the Driver Door Module Inputs list.
4. Insert the door key into the driver door key cylinder, turn it to the Unlock position and hold it there for 3 to 5 seconds.

Does the Key Cylinder Unlock parameter change to the ON state?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 4

1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the harness connector of key cylinder unlock switch.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Install a fused jumper between the circuits of the key cylinder unlock switch.
5. With the scan tool, observe the Key Cylinder Unlock parameter.

Does the key cylinder unlock parameter display ON?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Test the circuits of the key cylinder unlock switch for an open, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the key cylinder unlock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the key cylinder unlock switch. Refer to Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the driver door module. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
