Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Using the J 37097-A
disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
- Remove the auxiliary blower motor assembly. Refer to
Auxiliary Blower Motor Replacement
.
- Remove the heater core cover screws (1).
- Remove the heater core retaining screws (1).
- Remove the heater core retaining straps.
- Remove the heater core.
- Remove the heater core case seals.
Installation Procedure
- Install the heater core.
- Install the heater core retaining straps.
- Install the new heater core case seals.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the heater core retaining screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws (1) to 1.4 N·m (13 lb in).
- Install the heater core cover screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws (1) to 1.4 N·m (13 lb in).
- Install the auxiliary blower motor assembly. Refer to
Auxiliary Blower Motor Replacement
.
- Using theJ 37097-A
connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
