Did you review the Night Vision Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Position the vehicle approximately 8 meters (25 feet) from the nearest object.
  2. Cover the lower windshield with a mat.
  3. Cover the ambient light sensor.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn the headlamps ON.
  6. Turn the head-up display (HUD) ON.

Does the night vision video image appear on the windshield?

Does the night vision display warm-up logo appear when the HUD is turned ON?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the night vision camera.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a DMM, measure the voltage from the 14-volt reference circuit to a good ground.

Does the DMM display that the voltage is at or near the specified value?

12 V

Test the 14-volt reference circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 3 voltage circuit and the ground circuit, at terminal B (first design) or at C2 terminal B (second design) of the night vision camera.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the night vision video high signal circuit for an open or for a short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn the headlamps ON.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the HUD Dimming parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) non-HVAC Data data list.

Does the HUD Dimming parameter display On?

Repair the open in the ground circuit of the night vision camera. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the HUD active signal circuit for a short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn the HUD ON.
  5. Connect a test lamp between the night vision on/off switch signal circuit, at the HUD, and to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?
