Schematic Reference: Night Vision Schematics

Did you review the Night Vision Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Position the vehicle approximately 8 meters (25 feet) from the nearest object.
  2. Cover the lower windshield with a mat.
  3. Cover the ambient light sensor.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn the headlamps ON.
  6. Turn the head-up display (HUD) ON.
  7. Press the UP button and then the DOWN button on the HUD switch.

Does the night vision image move up when the UP button is pressed and down when the DOWN button is pressed?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the HUD.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a DMM, measure the voltage from the night vision image down signal circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure at or near the specified value?

0 V

With the DMM, measure the voltage from the night vision image up signal circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure at or near the specified value?

0 V

  1. Press the DOWN button on the HUD switch.
  2. With the DMM, measure the voltage from the night vision image down signal circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure at or near the specified value?

12 V

  1. Press the UP button on the HUD switch.
  2. With the DMM, measure the voltage from the night vision image up signal circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure at or near the specified value?

12 V

Test the night vision image down signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
