Removal Procedure

  1. Open and support the hood at the front.
  2. Using a wax pencil, scribe the location of the hood hinge on the hood.
  3. Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  4. Place tape or other protection on the corner of the hood on the side where the hinge is to be removed.
  5. Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  6. Remove the hood support rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 366270  Size: SH
  8. Remove the fasteners that secure the hinge (2) to the motor compartment (3).
  9. Remove the fasteners that secure the hinge (2) to the hood (1).
  10. Remove the hinge (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 366270  Size: SH
  1. Position the hinge (2) to the hood (1) using the scribed locations.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners in order to secure the hinge (2) to the hood (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the 2 fasteners in order to secure the hinge (2) to the motor compartment (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the hood support rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  8. Remove the hood corner protection.
  9. Close the hood and inspect for fit.
  10. Adjust the hood as necessary. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
