Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear fascia extensions. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 583098  Size: SH
  4. Remove the push in retainer (7) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear bumper impact bar (8).
  5. Remove the fasteners (5) retaining the rear bumper fascia (6) to the body (3).
  6. Disconnect the ultrasonic rear park assist harness connector (4) from the vehicle main body harness.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Open the rear compartment lid.
  9. Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement in Body Rear End.
  10. Remove the rear compartment side trim panels. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side and Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side in Body Rear End.
  11. Remove the nuts (2) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear quarter panels (3).
  12. Remove the nuts (1) securing the rear bumper fascia (6) to the vehicle.
  13. Remove the rear bumper fascia (6) from the body.
  14. Remove the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .
  15. Remove the rear object sensors from the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Object Sensor Replacement in Rear Parking Assist.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear object sensors into the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Object Sensor Replacement in Rear Parking Assist.
  2. Install the rear bumper energy absorber. Refer to Rear Energy Absorber Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 583098  Size: SH
  4. Position the rear bumper fascia (6) to the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the bolts (5) in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the vehicle (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (5) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the nuts (1) in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the vehicle.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts (1) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  10. Install the nuts (2) in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear quarter panels (3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the rear compartment side trim panels. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side and Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side in Body Rear End.
  13. Install the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement in Body Rear End.
  14. Close the rear compartment lid.
  15. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  16. Connect the ultrasonic rear park assist harness to the body main harness (4).
  17. Install the rear fascia extensions. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement .
  18. Install the push in retainer (7) in order to secure the rear bumper fascia (6) to the rear bumper impact bar (8).
  19. Lower the vehicle.
