Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 547971  Size: SH
  1. Open the front door.
  2. Important: Replace one hinge at a time. Do not open the rear door during the procedure as this may cause damage to the door, hinges, or check link.

  3. Open the front door.
  4. Remove the hinge to body bolts (2).
  5. Important: Be careful to secure the studplate when removing the hinge nuts from the door. The studplate is not attached to the door and could fall into the door cavity.

  6. Remove the hinge to door nuts (3).

  8. Rotate the body side of the hinge (1) away from the body.
  9. Remove the hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hinge over the mounting studs on the door.
  2. Rotate the body side of the hinge (1) into place on the pillar.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts (2).
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the hinge to body bolts (2) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
        • Tighten the hinge to door nuts (3) to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).
  6. Touch up any damage to the hinge and fasteners (1) with body color paint.
  7. Adjust the door for proper alignment. Refer to Door Adjustment .
  8. Close the front door.
