J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Remove the center seat if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  4. Remove the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 106219  Size: SH
  6. Using a J 38778 remove the 4 retainers from the front and rear carpet overlap seam.

  7. Object Number: 106218  Size: SH
  8. Separate the floor vents from the floor ducts before removing the front carpet.
  9. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 106218  Size: SH

    Caution: In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.

    Caution: All floor pan insulator material must meet Federal Vehicle Safety Standards for flammability. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or vehicle damage.

  1. Lay the front carpet into the vehicle.
  2. Work the front edges of the carpet into place under the instrument panel.
  3. Install the floor vent into the floor ducts.

  5. Install the 4 retainers into the floor pan at the front and rear carpet overlap seam.
  6. Install the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  7. Install the center seat if equipped. Refer to Front Center Seat Replacement in Seats.
  8. Install the front carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  9. Install the front seats. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement in Seats.
