Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Open the instrument panel (I/P) compartment door.

Does the I/P compartment lamp operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 9

Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and the glove box lamp control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the I/P compartment lamp switch.
  2. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper between the glove box lamp control circuit and a good ground.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp and the glove box lamp control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between the glove box lamp control circuit and the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit of the I/P compartment lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the glove box lamp control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the I/P compartment lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
