Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the hood insulator. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the underhood electrical connector.
  4. Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  5. Remove the hood assist rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 105291  Size: SH
  7. Remove the hood hinge pivot bolts (2) retaining the upper hood hinge (3) to the lower hood hinge (5).
  8. Remove the hood (1) from the body with the aid of an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hood (1) to the body with the aid of an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (2) that secure the upper hood hinge (3) to the lower hood hinge (5).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the hood assist rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .
  6. Connect the underhood electrical connector.
  7. Install the hood insulator. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  8. Adjust the hood if necessary. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  9. Remove the tape from the hood and the fenders.
  10. Close the hood.
