J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Adjust the front seat to the up position until maximum travel is reached.
  2. Angle the front of the seat cushion up in order to access the seat cushion fasteners.

  3. Remove the fasteners retaining the cushion to the seat adjuster.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

  5. Object Number: 625752  Size: SH
  6. Remove the knobs from the switch.
  7. Remove the 2 push pins from the inside of the switch trim plate, on the bottom edge of the trim plate.
  8. Release the tabs at the bottom of the switch plate.

  10. Remove the switch trim plate.
  11. Remove the J channels from the seat cushion.
  12. Peel the front seat cushion cover up in order to expose the switch.

  14. Using the J 38778 , remove the switch bracket retainers.

  15. Object Number: 625749  Size: SH
  16. Release the locking tabs on the switch bracket, and slide the seat switch from the seat bottom.
  17. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

  19. Remove the lumbar switch from the seat switch mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 683363  Size: SH
  1. Install the lumbar switch into the switch mounting bracket.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the seat switches.
  3. Slide the seat switch and bracket assembly onto the seat bottom.

  4. Object Number: 334111  Size: SH
  5. Install the seat switch bracket retainers into the seat bottom.
  6. Pull the seat cover back down over the switch and align holes in the cover to the switch assembly.
  7. Install the seat cover J channels.

  8. Object Number: 625751  Size: SH
  9. Install the seat switch trim plate.

  10. Object Number: 625752  Size: SH
  11. Install the knobs to the switches.

  13. Align the front seat cushion and frame assembly with the seat adjuster.
  14. Connect the electrical connectors.
  15. Engage the rear of the seat cushion frame to the seat adjuster, push down on the front of the cushion in order to engage the studs in the seat adjuster.
  16. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  17. Install the seat cushion fasteners.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
