Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement Base and DHS
Removal Procedure
- Remove the left knee bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
.
- Remove the right knee bolster. Refer to
Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement
.
- Remove the four fasteners (2)
retaining the center storage compartment (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connector if equipped.
- Remove the center compartment (1).
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical connector, if equipped.
- Install the center compartment (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the four
fasteners (2) that retain the center storage compartment (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the left knee bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
.
- Install the right knee bolster. Refer to
Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement
.
Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement DTS
Removal Procedure
- Remove the console trim plate. Refer to
Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Remove the 2 fasteners (2)
at the bottom of the compartment.
- Open the compartment (1) door.
- Grasp the inside of the IP compartment (1).
Pull out on the compartment (1) in order to release the upper
retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (3).
- Remove the IP compartment (1).
Installation Procedure
- Partially install the
compartment (1).
- Connect the electrical connector (3).
- Align the upper retainers with the IP and push on the top of the
compartment in order to engage the upper retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

- Install the bottom
compartment (1) fasteners (2).
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (2) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
