Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the dash integration module (DIM) from the bracket. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Computer/Integrating Systems.
  4. Remove the rear 2 DIM bracket screws.
  5. Reposition the DIM bracket to gain access to the recirculation actuator.

  6. Object Number: 493688  Size: SH
  7. Remove the blower motor control processor retaining screw.
  8. Important: 

       • Note the routing location of the blower motor and the blower motor speed control module wiring.
       • Improper wire routing will cause blower motor and blower motor speed control module wires to be pinched or chaffed by the DIM bracket and cause wiring failure.

  9. Remove the electrical connector (2) from the blower motor control module (1).

  11. Remove the electrical connection from the blower motor.
  12. Remove the blower motor control processor (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 493685  Size: SH
  1. Install the blower motor control processor (1) to the lower mounting location.
  2. The processor once in position should seat flat against the HVAC module.

  3. Route and reconnect the electrical connectors to the blower control processor (1) and the blower motor (2).

  4. Object Number: 493688  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the blower motor control processor retaining screw.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  7. Position the DIM bracket to the original position.
  8. Install the rear 2 DIM bracket retaining screws.
  9. Install the DIM into the bracket. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Computer/Integrating Systems.
  10. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  11. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
