GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system uses radio and sensor technology to check tire pressure levels. Sensors mounted on each tire and wheel assembly, excluding the spare tire and wheel, transmit tire pressure readings to a receiver located in the vehicle. Tire pressure status and tire pressure warnings are shown on the Driver Information Center (DIC) display. For additional information and details about the DIC operation, see "DIC Controls and Displays" in the Index of the DeVille owner manual.

If the TPM system detects a significantly underinflated tire, CHECK TIRE PRESSURE will appear on the Driver Information Center (DIC) display. Stop as soon as possible and check your tires. Inflate them to the proper pressure as shown on the tire and loading information label. See Inflation - Tire Pressure for additional tire pressure information.

Notice: Do not use a tire sealant if your vehicle has Tire Pressure Monitors. The liquid sealant can damage the tire pressure monitor sensors.

Your vehicle's TPM system can alert you about a low tire pressure condition, but it does not replace normal tire maintenance. See Tire Inspection and Rotation for additional information. Also see "When It's Time For New Tires" in the Index of the DeVille owner manual.

The spare tire and wheel assembly does not have a TPM sensor. If you replace a TPM equipped tire and wheel with the spare tire and wheel, the SERVICE TIRE MONITOR message will be shown on the DIC display. This message should go off once you re-install the tire containing the TPM sensor. The SERVICE TIRE MONITOR message is also displayed when the TPM system is malfunctioning. One or more missing or inoperable TPM sensors will cause the service TPM message to be displayed. See your Cadillac dealer for service.

Each TPM sensor has a unique identification code. The codes are matched to each tire and wheel position on your vehicle. Any time you replace one or more of the TPM sensors or rotate the tires, the TPM system will need to be reset. A special tool is needed to reset the sensor identification codes. See your dealer for service.
