2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille DTS

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that intermittently the driver seat will not return to its memory position when unlocking the doors with the key fob. The condition only occurs after the vehicle has sat for more than 10 minutes and is only present on DHS and DTS model DeVilles equipped with Memory seats (RPO A45 or WA7) and Massaging Lumbar. The seat will return to the memory setting if the memory recall button on the driver door panel is used.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Rewire the driver seat massaging lumbar circuits using the following procedure:

  1. Remove driver's seat cushion by removing two nuts on front lower.
  2. Locate in left lower rear corner of seat the Black 16 way connector C324 (P/N 12129431) and disconnect.
  3. Locate and remove the female terminals for circuits 2475 (Terminal S, Dk Blue) and circuit 768 (Terminal G, Lt. Blue) on the male side of connector C324.
  4. Cut off the terminals on both wires and strip back ¼ inch of insulation from both wire ends.
  5. From the J38125 kit, find a female terminal P/N 12186457.
  6. Attach both circuits to the new terminal and install into cavity "G".
  7. Locate and remove the female terminals for circuits 2476 (Terminal R, Lt. Blue) and circuit 767 (Terminal H, Brown) on the male side of connector C324.
  8. Cut off the terminals on both wires and strip back ¼ inch of insulation from both wire ends.
  9. From the J38125 kit, find a female terminal P/N 12186457.
  10. Attach both circuits to the new terminal and install into cavity "H".
  11. Reconnect 16 way connection.
  12. Check lumbar operation and auto massage functionality.
  13. Verify that the memory recall functions when using the key fob.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
